At Beyond Chronic Pain, we understand that living with persistent pain affects far more than just your body. It touches every part of your life: your identity, your sense of self, your mind, your emotions, your energy, your relationships, your social and personal life.
That’s why we offer more than short-term fixes or surface-level strategies. You won’t find generic advice here. Instead, you’ll find compassionate, personalised support that meets you where you are, grounded in science, shaped by lived experience, and designed to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
Whether you’re navigating chronic fatigue, invisible chronic illnesses, fibromyalgia, long-term injury, unexplained pain without a clear diagnosis, you are not alone.
Our work blends pain education, psychotherapy, somatic practices, trauma-informed care, and coaching into one integrated path forward, so you can rebuild your function, reclaim your life, and feel like yourself again.
Because real healing isn't about “just coping.” It’s about restoring the parts of your life that pain has interrupted and finding what’s possible beyond it.
We’re guided by five core values that shape everything we do:
We treat you as a complete human being — not just someone with a condition. We see you as more than your symptoms. That’s why we address the physical, emotional, mental, and lifestyle factors that shape your pain, recovery and healing.
We take the time to understand what you're dealing with — your symptoms, your struggles, and what matters most to you. From there, we build a plan that genuinely fits your life.
We prioritise safety, trust, and emotional sensitivity in every interaction, recognising the impact trauma can have on both the body and mind. Everything we do is grounded in compassion and respect.
Every part of our approach from the education we provide to the coaching, therapeutic support, and personalised strategies, is built on evidence-based principles, proven interventions, and deep understanding of chronic pain. We don’t guess; we guide with insight, clarity, and experience.
Hi, I’m Mustafa Omar, founder of Beyond Chronic Pain. I’m a psychotherapist, certified pain therapist, somatic therapist, life and mindset coach, NLP practitioner, and neuroscience coach and someone who genuinely understands the chronic pain experience not just professionally, but personally.
My qualifications include advanced training in pain neuroscience education, trauma-informed pain psychotherapy, somatic therapy, nervous system modulation and functional pain rehabilitation.
But what truly sets this work apart is that it’s not just based on study, it’s based on lived experience.

Hey, I’m Mustafa Omar, and my story, in many ways, may feel familiar to you. For over a decade, I faced a relentless struggle with chronic pain that seemed to take over my life. I was diagnosed with four different chronic pain conditions, each bringing a host of symptoms that impacted every aspect of my daily living. But the toll wasn’t just physical pain alone—my mind, emotions, my relationships and overall well-being were all deeply affected as well.
My mindset was one of the hardest battles I faced. My thoughts were filled with doubt, negativity, and self-blame, and each day felt like a mental struggle against fear, self-doubt, and the belief that I’d never live a normal life again. I was constantly questioning my worth, losing sight of who I was, and feeling mentally exhausted from carrying that weight daily.
At the same time, I was overwhelmed by intense emotions. My nervous system was always on edge, leaving me anxious, stressed, and often lost. Depression set in, and anxiety made it hard to socialise or enjoy anything. I felt frustrated with the healthcare system and isolated, misunderstood by those around me. This emotional toll kept me from fully engaging in life, as I withdrew from people and things I once loved.

I started with troubleshooting my Mindset, Beliefs & Cognitive Barriers. I learned to challenge my self-limiting beliefs, to question the negativity, and to develop a more resilient mindset. I found ways to reframe my thoughts, to look at my situation with a new perspective, and to start rebuilding my sense of self-worth. It wasn’t about pretending the pain didn’t exist, it was about learning how to manage my thoughts in a way that didn’t make the pain worse.
I also tackled the persistent bothersome pain sensations with implementing Pain Therapeutic Interventions. I learned techniques that helped reduce the intensity of my pain, mindfulness, relaxation exercises, and somatic therapies that provided real relief. I began to feel like I had some control over the pain, even if it wasn’t completely gone. It was a powerful shift, and it gave me the confidence to keep moving forward.
Next, I focused on Emotional Regulation. I began to understand my emotions instead of letting them overwhelm me. I practised techniques to calm my nervous system and to reduce my stress levels. I found ways to manage the frustration, anger, and sadness that had taken over my life. I realised that my emotions were valid, but they didn’t have to control me. Step by step, I started to regain a sense of emotional stability.
Finally, I knew I had to overcome my lack of energy and motivation. I applied Behavioural Activation and Modification into my routine, small and achievable steps that slowly built up my stamina. I set simple goals, like short walks or gentle exercises, and I celebrated every win, no matter how small. Gradually, I started to feel stronger, more capable, and more in control of my life.
Over time, I began to rediscover my sense of purpose. I set goals and pursued them, not letting my condition dictate what I could or couldn’t do. I learned to focus on what I could achieve rather than what I couldn’t. My life was no longer centred around pain, it was about living fully, even with my limitations.
Today, my life is completely different from where I was. I’m no longer just getting by; I’m genuinely living again. The pain is still there, but it doesn’t control me anymore. Instead of being trapped in a cycle of frustration and struggle, I’m living a life full of purpose, real connections, and hope. I wake up each day feeling ready for whatever comes, knowing I have the strength and tools to face it.
I’ve found a sense of peace and control that I thought I’d lost forever. I’m able to do things I love, whether it’s spending time with my family, picking up hobbies again, or simply enjoying a quiet moment without pain taking over. Life feels bigger now. I can dream, make plans, and actually live without pain stopping me. This change has made everything brighter, more joyful, and so much more satisfying.
The best part? I’m no longer defined by my condition. I feel strong, capable, and in charge of my life. I have a calm, steady mind, a real sense of who I am, and a hopeful outlook that carries me through each day. This isn’t just a little better—it’s a whole new life. And I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
